COMMANDEUR, HEER VAN OOTMARSUM<\/p>\n

Hij staat weer waar hij ooit begon.
\nNiet van vlees en niet van beton.
\nIn brons als legende herboren.
\nDeze Commandeur met zijn blik naar voren.<\/p>\n

Hier staat hij, uit het stof herrezen.
\nVoor jongeren een onbekend wezen.
\nZijn voeten staan stevig en verankerd.
\nWat dat betreft is hij niet veranderd.<\/p>\n

Niet enkel mens, maar symbool van stand.
\nTrouw aan zijn taak en vaderland.
\nHeer van Ootmarsum met zwaard en schild.
\nLater tot Drost van Twente getild.<\/p>\n

Hij die handhaafde en gerechtigheid sprak.
\nHij die zijn plichtmatige beloften niet verbrak.
\nDit beeld brengt het verleden weer tot leven.
\nAan de Commanderie wordt duiding gegeven.<\/p>\n

Den Commandeur uit onze stadsgeschiedenis.
\nHeden onthullen wij niet enkel zijn beeltenis.
\nStilstaan bij deze blikvanger loont.
\nKunst fascineert, herinnert en toont.<\/p>\n

Zijn sculptuur zal ons blijvend verblijden.
\nZijn adem zal ons voortaan begeleiden.
\nDe ziel van wie onze stad heeft bewaakt.
\nDat is met dit beeld weer zichtbaar gemaakt.<\/p>\n
